Co-Chairs Ask Trump to Remain Engaged on the United Nations Human Rights Council

June 14, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Commission Co-Chairs, Randy Hultgren and James P. McGovern, released a letter to President Donald J. Trump encouraging him to continue United States membership and engagement in the United Nations Human Rights Council. The Co-Chairs recognize the Council has been inconsistent in its promotion of human rights, but they believe the United States can best defend universal rights by working to strengthen the Council from within. Engagement on the Council remains the best path forward to safeguarding human rights, peace, and security for both American citizens and those across the globe.

The full text of the letter is available here.
