Co-Chairs Urge President Trump to Prioritize Human Rights with Xi Jinping

April 6, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today the Commission Co-Chairs, James P. McGovern and Randy Hultgren, released a letter to President Donald J. Trump urging him to prioritize human rights issues in his upcoming meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Co-Chairs noted that United States leadership on human rights has long been a beacon to the world, and expressed their hope that President Trump will continue the noble American tradition of standing up for the repressed and the voiceless, which is central to the pursuit of American interests around the globe.
